Nic Tompkins
Nic Tompkins is a native Arizonan, born and bred, though in the middle of that were a lot of years living on a ranch in Nebraska. When she wasn’t running wild in the desert, she was driving cattle across the Great Plains on an ATV. With countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings, she has been immersed in crazy life stories since before she can remember, and sometimes loses track if they were hers or somebody else’s. All that wide-open nature and yarn-spinning sparked an imagination that never shuts down, and the only way to deal with that is to do the opposite: let it run and see where it goes. That’s how anyone gets anywhere interesting, anyway. As a result of this, books are born and their characters are spontaneously added into conversations with real life people, which causes no end of confusion.
Nic also has a lot of real life experience and a whole bunch of higher education, but tends to get lost in books and the great outdoors, so who knows if they actually do her any good.
Books by Nic Tompkins:
Nic’s books are focused around tightly knit characters that are consistently faced with situations that test their resolve and integrity. Crime, comedy, and family history all have a role to play, and no one is left outside the fray. Unusual backgrounds and vivid characters (read: a lot of personalities all trying to get along) combine to create action and interaction that will keep you reading and feeling the same frustrations, fears, and elation that they do. As well as occasionally wishing you could talk some sense into a few of them.
A whole cast of deeply interconnected people find themselves continually tossed into the midst of mystery and intrigue, and strain against the danger that surrounds them in order to pursue what they know to be the right course.
Nic’s debut novel, A Desert Dweller’s Field Guide to: Taking Down Criminal Enterprise, is out now and available at all major retailers. Don’t miss the chance to join in with Charlie, Kevin, Alvaro, and a host of others as they discover that, not only are things never as they seem, but that often the most difficult situations are the ones from within.
Eddie Rush
Eddie Rush has lived in the West his whole life, but never let that stop him from creating stories that happen all over the world. Having worked in education for nearly a decade, Eddie has a special place in his heart for kids that always have their nose in a book. Because of that, he writes young adult novels that showcase the best that courageous youngsters have to offer, all while providing enough adventure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Unashamedly nerdy and with a deep appreciation for all things learning, readers can expect to find more than one inside history joke, as well as a host of casual information and usage of dead languages. On top of that, you get some great swashbuckling action and confrontation of demons both external and personal.
Isn’t that what you pick up a book for anyway?
Eddie spends most of his time either outside, reading, teaching, playing music, or two-stepping. And writing, but that one’s a given.
He loves to work the range and spend his days with animals, both livestock and pets, and believes that there’s not much that prayer and a good cup of coffee can’t fix.
Books by Eddie Rush:
Eddie writes for a young adult audience with books that can be enjoyed by all ages. They have a strong historical thread and give Eddie an excuse to indulge in more research on obscure topics. The stories weave together lives of struggle and joy to show how perseverance can make an immense difference.
After years in education with various ages and a familiarity with the difficulties that face young people, Eddie is passionate about writing the kinds of stories that don’t just entertain—though they do plenty of that—but serve as a solid moral and philosophical grounding for an age group that is so often adrift.
His first book published by Arrow T Press is a time traveling adventure that sweeps readers into the past with a host of colorful characters, both historical and fictional (though that far in time even the history is often a mix of the two) as they wade through personal troubles and extreme situations. Tune in later this year to see the book out at all major retailers!
