Getting Down to Business

It doesn’t matter that the title of this article isn’t word-for-word – I now have “Taking Care of Business” irrevocably stuck in my head, which is pretty much going to throw off the rest of the time I had planned to get things done by making me feel productive, but really all that will be going on is a very loud rendition of the Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s classic and me pretending that I actually checked off all the boxes on my list.

Before you roll your eyes at my lack of self-motivation, however, let me just inform you that this list is not filled with fun, fulfilling tasks. No, it’s just filled with a whole bunch of business-y things that need to be done for Arrow T Press, but only serve to send me into a spiral of paperwork and preemptive panic over next year’s taxes.

See, writing is amazing. It’s fantastic. There is little better than the feeling of making a whole world come to life on paper. But, that comes with the very unfortunate downside of a lot of government type documents that need to be filled out, banking information that needs to be properly stored and filed, and website things that are really not my forte anyway. But despite this, if I ever want Charlie and company to see the light of day, these are the kinds of tasks that must be done.

And, to be fair to myself, I am actually accomplishing them, but seeing as I didn’t have the foresight to get an accounting degree (I really didn’t see the need to put myself through that kind of hell), I’m now wading through things with which I am entirely unfamiliar.

Lucky me.

BUT – The book is finally coming out! In just a few weeks it will finally be in print and for sale as an ebook! Talk about a slow burn. This whole process started more than six years ago.

Please, hold the commentary on my level of efficiency. I don’t want to hear it. It is echoing through my head without your voice adding to it, thank you very much.

So, let’s stick with the “yay” element and ring in the holidays with some crime and punishment!

Yay!
